Day 1: Travel to Minehead where your first night's accommodation has been booked.
Day 2: An interesting first day's walk, this is an isolated section of the path where the rolling expanse of Exmoor reaches down to the sea. The last section into Porlock is quite different the land being a mixture of farmland and marshland behind a shingle bank.
Day 3: The walk starts on wooded cliffs and then once across the Devon, Somerset border the cliffs become more open and give great views over Lynton and Lynmouth.
Day 4: A tough day's walk on a remote section of the path. There are rocky crags, the isolated cove of Heddon's Mouth and the highest point on the Coastal Path "Great Hangman" with its 244m of vertical cliff.
Day 5: After the previous day's isolation a section of today's path runs alongside a coast road. There are still spectacular views of dark forbidding cliffs and peaceful rocky inlets. The enormous beach at Woolacombe will normally surfers.
Day 6: The first half of the day is across the huge sandy beach of Woolacombe backed by its huge dunes. The second half the sandy dunes of Saunton Sands and the muddy banks of the River Taw, great for bird watchers.
Day 7: An easy last day mostly following the banks of the River Torridge. Taking in the old port of Bideford and the Fishing village of Appledore.
