A long hard but very rewarding walk for the adventurous and fit walker

This is a tough walk for the fit and regular walker.  It takes the official coastal path along a stretch of coast that includes fabulous views across bays, rivers and inlets that constitute Cornwall's best sailing areas.  The itinerary is not for the faint hearted, but for those of you who are in good shape and want a real challenge and a great adventure then this could be the walk for you.

 The walk takes you from the great city port of Plymouth to the wilds of Lands End, with many fishing and sailing ports in between.

 

Day 1 Travel to Plymouth

Day 4 Fowey to Mevagissey 17.5 miles
Day 5 Mevagissey to Portloe 12.2 miles
Day 6 Portloe to Falmouth 13.6 miles
Day 7 Falmouth to Coverack 23 miles
Day 8 Coverack to Mullion Cove 17.3 miles
Day 9 Mullion Cove to Penzance  21 miles
Day 10 Penzance to Lands End 16.6 miles

ITINERARY

Day 1: Travel to Plymouth where your first night's accommodation has been booked.

Day 2:    Plymouth to Portwrinkle. Take the Cremyll ferry from Plymouth and walk through Cawsand and around Rame Head, with its spectacular views of Plymouth Sound and and the sea out towards the Eddystone Lighthouse.

Day 3: Portwrinkle to Fowey.  A long day including Looe, Porthallow and Polperro before arriving at Polruan and getting the ferry to Fowey.  A great place for a meal out to celebrate your first 20 miler!
 
Day 4: Fowey to Mevagissey. First Gribbin Head and then the great arc of St Austell Bay before arriving in the narrow streets of Mevagissey where the fishing boats more up right in the heart of the town

Day 5: Mevagissey to Portloe.  A shorter day culminating in a night in the tiny fishing village of Portloe, tucked away in the cliffs.

Day 6: Portloe to Falmouth.  A great days walking that takes you along the coastline of the beautiful Roseland peninsula and finishes with two ferry rides, one from St Anthony head to St Mawes and the next from St Mawes to Falmouth.

Day 7: Falmouth to Coverack.  Another long day but a ferry crossing of The Helford river and a lunch at one of its two great pubs would be a great way to split it up.

Day 8: Coverack to Mullion Cove.  A walk that takes you around the Lizard, past some wonderful wild scenery.

Day 9: Mullion Cove to Penzance.  The last of the 20 mile plus days that takes you past St Michaels Mount to Penzance.

Day 10: Penzance to Lands End.  Your last days walking, highlights are the picture postcard fishing village of Mousehole and Lands End itself.  Before finishing in Sennen Cove for your last night.

 Day 11: Travel home from Penzance

Extra nights/Rest days

St Mawes is a beautiful fishing and sailing village.  A day out kayaking or on a fishing boat could be pre-booked here.
Mevagissey is ideally placed for a visit to the outstanding Lost Gardens of Heligan. Charlestown is about 4 miles from the world famous “Eden Project” and has a fabulous harbour sheltering several tall ships.

Luggage Transfer
One upto 20 kg bag per person transfered between your overnight accommodation (the coastal path is quite hilly and we strongly recommend this option)
Off road parking
We can arrange off road parking for your car.  This cost can vary, we will advise costs for your point of detarture.
Arrange for return transport to your car at the end of the walk
We can arrange transport back to your car.  If public transport is the best option we will advise.
